BD’s Bard biopsy portfolio includes reusable instruments, disposable core-biopsy devices and reference-specific needles. Common families include MAGNUM, MAX-CORE, Mission and compatible coaxial introducers. The existing product image should be treated as identification support, not confirmation of a specific family.

Product identification and procurement notes

Core-biopsy procurement requires compatibility checks. A reusable instrument may accept only specified needle families, while a disposable device may have a fixed throw or sample-notch design. The brand name alone is therefore not enough to confirm the correct item.

Please identify whether the request is for a complete disposable device, a reusable firing instrument, a compatible needle or a coaxial introducer. Gauge, usable length and throw should be copied from the existing label or current BD catalogue.

• Throw length or sample-notch configuration where applicable
• Product family and complete catalogue number

Important product notice

Compatibility between reusable instruments and biopsy needles must be confirmed from manufacturer documentation. Sterile packaging and expiry should be agreed at order level.

Sterile packaging is reviewed before dispatch, but the receiving facility should inspect every unit on arrival and store it according to the manufacturer label. Selection of biopsy technique and device configuration is a clinical responsibility.
